The Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) US 301 Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study has been completed. The preferred alternative and the final engineering and environmental reports have been accepted by the FDOT Environmental Management Office in Tallahassee. The formal notice of receiving this Location and Design Concept Acceptance is published on the Public Notices page.

This study evaluated the widening of US 301 from County Road (CR) 470 East to State Road (SR) 44, a distance of approximately 7.8 miles in Sumter County. This included evaluating the need to realign a portion of US 301 south of the City of Coleman to lessen the movement of heavy truck traffic through the community. All viable alternatives and alignments were considered.

This website was used for the study and will soon be discontinued. The preferred alternative and the final reports are available online, and you may continue to follow the progress of the US 301 Project at the new project website www.cflroads.com/430132-1.
