Welcome to the website for the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) US 301 Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study. This study is evaluating the widening of US 301 from County Road (CR) 470 East to State Road (SR) 44, a distance of approximately 7.8 miles in Sumter County. This includes evaluating the need to realign a portion of US 301 south of the City of Coleman to lessen the movement of heavy truck traffic through the community. All viable alternatives and alignments will be considered.

The final Public Hearing was held on Monday, Dec. 3, 2018. A verbatim (word for word) transcript of the meeting is available on the Documents & Publications page.

The end of the study is scheduled for Summer 2019, at which time the FDOT Environmental Management Office in Tallahassee will accept the preferred alternative and the final engineering and environmental reports. You may continue to follow the progress of the U.S. 301 PD&E Study at the new project website www.cflroads.com/430132-1.
